Combatting HIV and AIDS: A Conversation with Rev. Dr. Veikko Munyika

The Rev. Dr. Veikko Munyika, the coordinator of the HIV & AIDS Desk for The Lutheran World Federation, works with member churches on their response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Rev. Munyika is a native of Namibia, a country devastated by the HIV and AIDS pandemic. In 2002, at the peak of the disease in the country, 20% of the population of only two million people were infected. Current estimates put the HIV infection rate at around 13 percent, Rev. Munyika says.
