Ruth Messinger, the president of the American Jewish World Service (AJWS), invited Odyssey Networks to her New York offices to discuss the current state of the HIV/AIDS epidemic around the world. Messinger, whose first got involved in the AIDS awareness campaign in the early 80s, says that worldwide the virus particularly impacts women and girls. Messinger, who spent two decades in public service before joining AJWS, says that her work is largely driven by her faith and desire to pursue social justice. Messinger currently serves as the co-chair of the Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance’s interfaith task force. July is National HIV Awareness month.
