MGM Resorts International has expanded its Supplier Diversity Program for suppliers, contractors, and professional service providers. The Program now includes businesses owned by veterans, disabled, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender individuals as well as minority-owned, women-owned, and disadvantaged business enterprises. Businesses certified by independent agencies as fitting into these added categories can compete in MGM Resorts’ bids for products and services. Since its start in 2001, the company’s Supplier Diversity Program has contracted with more than 1,000 Program suppliers and contractors, resulting in .5 billion in expenditures with such businesses. Cabot Creamery has launched Reward Volunteers, the first mobile app that allows volunteers to log hours, post to Facebook, and win rewards for themselves and the organizations they serve. Volunteers select the organization for which they are volunteering, log the length of time volunteered, and post their volunteer efforts on Facebook. Prizes will be selected monthly, starting in March, and include an Alaskan cruise, a Vermont farm vacation, snowboards, and lift tickets from Ski Vermont. Five individuals and five nonprofits will be eligible to win ,000 each. Cabot developed Reward Volunteers in collaboration with Chalo Inc., a social business start up. The app is free, and available on iTunes. For more information on these and other stories, go to thecsrminute.com
